FSA issue food hygiene reminder following NI E.coli O157 outbreak

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) is reminding people of the importance of following good food hygiene practice, and what to do if they go down with food poisoning. This is in light of an extensive on-going outbreak of E.coli O157 linked with Flick’s restaurant in Belfast, which has resulted in 134 confirmed and 165 probable cases. They have particularly emphasised the importance of maintaining good hand and general hygiene to help prevent the spread of infection and the importance of food handlers staying away from work if they have suffered food poisoning illness – in line with the FSA’s 2009 guidance, "Food Handlers: Fitness to Work (Regulatory Guidance and Best Practice Advice for Food Business Operators) 2009:
